One of the artist favorite subjects and paintings is his representation of the Ancestral home of the Ross family, Balnagown Castle. Completing in over 2 years, the painting & actual location have a rich history & personal significant value for him. Having deep family ties to the place & history, it embraces his preferred type of architecture and local flora.
One of the most exclusive clubs in the world, Skibo became a very exciting oil painting and in a looser style for the artist. One of the early paintings he painted on super muslin, inspired a texture and touch so expressive for this series. The angle & flowers including the wonderful Scottish thistle was a must. Bravura brushstrokes and the fountain which is actually located elsewhere also made a great discovery. It was actually owned & built by a gentleman with Chris' surname Simpson.
